Description
- Adjuvants are mixed with aqueous antigen solution or suspension
- Once injected, they provide a pool of emulsified antigen at the injection site and allow the antigen to be released over an extended period of time
- With adjuvants, the immune response to antigens (especially soluble antigens) is enhanced and prolonged
- Use Incomplete Freund adjuvant to avoid the use of acid-fast bacilli; however, the antibody response is not as marked as with the complete adjuvant
