It is also employed in the synthesis of linear plasticizers, oxo-alcohols, motor fuels, automotive additives and biodegradable surfactants. In addition to this, it is used in the preparation of mercaptans, flavors and fragrances, alkyl metals, halides and alkyl silanes.
