  • Three-year Rapid Exchange (REX) Warranty—replacement shipped out in ~1 business day for labs with critical timelines
  • Three-year AB Repair Center (ABRC) Warranty—instrument repaired and returned in ~3 weeks, ideal for regulated labs required to maintain asset tagging consistency

21 CFR Part 11 Software Module

The Qubit Flex Security Software supports compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 FDA guidelines for security, auditing, and electronic (SAE) signatures using the SAE administration console. The 21 CFR Part 11 software can be purchased separately (Cat. No. Q31994).

Qubit Endotoxin Detection Assay Kit

The Qubit Endotoxin Detection Assay Kit is a sensitive and easy-to-use fluorescent endpoint assay for use on the Qubit Flex Fluorometer that uses amebocyte lysates to quantify endotoxin in protein, peptide, antibody, or nucleic acid samples. Amebocyte lysates are widely used as a simple and sensitive assay for the detection of endotoxin lipopolysaccharide (LPS), the membrane component of gram-negative bacteria.

Features of the Qubit Endotoxin Detection Assay Kit include:

  • Highly sensitive with a broad range—detect as little as 0.01 EU/mL to 10.0 EU/mL
  • Flexible—suitable for wide range of samples, including DNA, RNA, plasmids, antibodies, and more
  • Easy to use—when paired with the Qubit Flex Fluorometer, calculations are performed automatically, helping reduce the potential for error

Which is the best DNA or RNA quantification instrument?

All of the DNA instruments offered by Thermo Fisher Scientific are of excellent quality. To find the right instrument to quantify DNA or RNA in your lab, explore the detailed comparison of UV-Vis spectrophotometers and fluorometers. Things like sensitivity, throughput and budget may be initial considerations when selecting a DNA quantification instrument. You may also consider whether you need target specificity, sample purity information, RNA quality information, or broad dynamic range.

What is the difference between UV and fluorescence DNA quantification? Which DNA quantification technology should I choose?

UV and fluorescence technologies work differently to quantify DNA. UV quantification relies on the intrinsic absorptivity of DNA and RNA molecules, while fluorescence quantification uses dyes that specifically bind to your molecule of choice. With UV technology, quantification isn't as sensitive, but it has a broader dynamic range and also gives data about sample purity‒plus it is faster because there is no reagent prep. With fluorescence technology you get higher sensitivity and molecule-specific data, but it has lower dynamic range and reagent prep is required. The technology you need will depend on what features are important for your lab and experimentation.

When using the Qubit Flex Fluorometer, do I have to use all 8 samples/wells?

No, the Qubit Flex Fluorometer allows you to select which wells will be used for the experiment. The standards and sample will only be read in the selected wells. If the option to select wells is not available on your Qubit Flex, please update to the current firmware version (download firmware from Technical Resources for Qubit Fluorometers). This feature was introduced in version 1.5.0.
