Oncomodulin, encoded by the OCM gene located on chromosome 7p22.3, is a protein that belongs to the parvalbumin family of calcium-binding proteins. It is most prominently found in the inner ear, as well as in certain retinal cells and regenerating neurons. Oncomodulin plays a crucial role in calcium ion homeostasis, which is vital for various cellular processes, including signal transduction, cellular motility, and growth.
