The Luciferase Assay System is a homogeneous assay system; the cells containing the luciferase must be lysed before addition to the reagent. Cell Culture Lysis Reagent and Reporter Lysis Buffer may be used with the Luciferase Assay System for reporter quantitation in mammalian cells. This system may also be used for quantitation in plant and bacterial cells, but Reporter Lysis Buffer is not suitable for these applications.

  • Linear results are seen over at least eight orders of magnitude of enzyme concentration
  • Patented technology has allowed less than 10-20 moles of luciferase to be measured under optimal conditions
  • Systems typically provide 100-fold greater sensitivity than the chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) assay
  • Cell lysis, sample preparation, and assays can be performed in as little as five minutes
  • Simple procedure eliminates the need for autoinjectors and rapid mixing protocols when using single-tube luminometers
  • Protocol can be adapted for use with scintillation counters
  • System components are also available separately
