Description
Thermo Scientific™ Pierce SAT(PEG)4 is a long-arm (18.2 Ås), pegylated form of SATA, a sulfhydryl-addition reagent for covalent modification of primary amines to facilitate controlled, heterobifunctional crosslinking.
SAT(PEG)4 extends the flexibility, solubility and reach of other S-acetylthio (SAT) reagents for sulfhydryl modification of amine-containing molecules. SAT(PEG)4 has the same form as SATA and SATP, which are widely used as part of protein conjugation strategies. Two purified proteins (e.g., antibody and enzyme) are conjugated after modifying one protein with an SAT reagent and the other protein with a maleimide-activating crosslinker such as Sulfo-SMCC (Part No. 22322). Because SAT reagents add a protected sulfhydryl, the modified protein can be stored indefinitely before treating it to expose the sulfhydryl and performing the final sulfhydryl-directed conjugation reaction.The four-unit polyethylene glycol (PEG) group in SAT(PEG)4 provides increased hydrophilicity and spacer-arm length relative to SATA and SATP. When used in combination with a long-arm PEG-containing crosslinker like SM(PEG)12 (Part No. 22112), SAT(PEG)4 can be used to crosslink proteins with long spacers.
