Z-Val-Val-Nle diazomethyl ketone is used as an irreversible cathepsin inhibitor that is 380 times more effective in inactivating cathepsin S than L. It is often abbreviated as DMK. Peptidyl diazomethyl ketones are specific inactivators of thiol proteinases.
