It can be employed for HPLC and UHPLC (Ultra High performance Liquid Chromatography) techniques. Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is commonly used as a mobile phase additive. It is a UV transparent, volatile acid that forms hydrophobic negatively charged trifluoroacetate ion.
