Description
- Primarily used for trapping hydrocarbons
- Used in GC for carrier gas purification
- Contains a carbon molecular sieve that also restricts the elution of moisture and oxygen
- Surges of moisture and oxygen that enter the gas line during the installation of a new gas cylinder are released slowly, and diluted by the clean carrier gas from the new cylinder
- Activated charcoal adsorbs hydrocarbons and other contaminants from carrier gases, air, and hydrogen
- Particularly removes C3 and other higher hydrocarbons
- Operates efficiently for approximately six months (when total hydrocarbons in the incoming gas average 10 ppm)
