Methotrexate is used as s cell cycle arresting agent that inhibits DHFR. It is used in treatment of cancer, autoimmune diseases, ectopic pregnancy, and for the induction of medical abortions. It acts by inhibiting the metabolism of folic acid. Methotrexate is one of the most effective and widely used medications for treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other inflammatory types of arthritis. It is used as an anticancer drug.
