Rat Monoclonal Antibody

Description: The JES6-5H4 antibody reacts with mouse interleukin-2 (IL-2), a 17 kDa T cell growth factor and a major immunoregulatory cytokine. Applications Reported: JES6-5H4 has been reported for use in detection of mouse IL-2 by ELISA, intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis, immunoprecipitation, and for neutralizing IL-2 binding and biological activity. Applications Tested: The JES6-5H4 antibody has been tested as the detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA for analysis of mouse Interleukin-2 (IL-2) in combination with the purified JES6-1A12 (14-7022) antibody for capture and recombinant mouse IL-2 (14-8021) as the standard. A suitable range of concentrations of this antibody for ELISA detection is 0.5-2 μg/mL. A standard curve consisting of doubling dilutions of the recombinant standard over the range of 500 pg/mL - 4 pg/mL should be included in each ELISA plate. Filtration: 0.2 μm post-manufacturing filtered.

Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is an immuno-modulatory cytokine that is important for the proliferation of activated T cells, differentiation of B cells, natural killer cells, monocytes and macrophages. IL-2 signals through the IL-2 receptor (IL-2R), a heterotrimeric protein complex whose gamma chain is also shared by interleukin 4 (IL-4) and interleukin 7 (IL-7). The expression of the IL-2 gene in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, which represents an unusual regulatory mode for controlling the precise expression of a single gene. The targeted disruption of a gene similar to IL-2 in mice leads to an ulcerative colitis-like disease that suggests an essential role of this gene in the immune response to antigenic stimuli.
