Gibco™ Human/Mouse/Rat GDF-11 Recombinant Protein, PeproTech®
Recombinant Protein
Supplier: Gibco™ 1201150UG
Description
120-11-1MG will be provided as 2 x 500 μg (120-11-500UG). Recombinant Human/Murine/Rat GDF-11 is a 25.0 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer containing two 109 amino acid polypeptide chains. It is highly homologous to myostatin/GDF-8, sharing 90% amino acid sequence identity. This product is shipped at ambient temperature. For storage, handling and reconstitution information, please see the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis
GDF11 is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. This group of proteins is characterized by a polybasic proteolytic processing site which is cleaved to produce a mature protein containing seven conserved cysteine residues. The members of this family are regulators of cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and adult tissues. Studies in mice and Xenopus suggest that this protein is involved in mesodermal formation and neurogenesis during embryonic development.Specifications

| Assay 1: Determined by its ability to inhibit induced alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC-5 chondrogenic cells. The expected ED50 for this effect is 0.08-0.10 ug/ml Assay 2: Determined by its ability to inhibit alkaline phosphatase activity in differentiating MC3T3/E1cells. The ED50 for this effect is 8-10 ng/ml | |
