Recombinant Protein

Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (70%), Rat (70%). This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-82318 (PA5-82318. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.

MMP3 (stromelysin-1) belongs to the peptidase M10A subfamily. It is secreted in its pro-protein form, and is activated by extracellular proteinase cleavage. MMP3 is capable of binding to zinc and calcium ions, and has metallo-endopeptidase activity. The active enzyme degrades collagen, gelatin, fibronectin, and laminin. It is involved in normal cellular processes such as wound repair and tissue remodeling. Mutations in the gene can result in coronary heart disease 6.
