Biotinylate DNA or RNA via intercalation and conjugation with thymine- and other pyrimidine-containing bases with this light-activated biotinylation reagent.

Thermo Scientific™ EZ-Link Psoralen-PEG3-Biotin enables biotinylation of DNA or RNA via UV-light-activated intercalation of the psoralen group with thymine- and other pyrimidine-containing bases to form covalent bonds.

Highlights:

  • Water-soluble, polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer arm
  • Much higher coupling yield than achieved with photoactivatable biotin
  • Psoralen moiety reacts through a cyclo-addition mechanism with the 5,6 double bond in thymine- and other pyrimidine-containing bases
  • Covalent attachment occurs with exposure to UV light (approximately equal to 350nm)
  • Great for biotinylating DNA/RNA probes (∽1 biotin/10-20 bases)
  • Ultrahigh sensitivity relative to radiolabeled probes (<100 femtograms)
  • Does not interfere with hybridization
