Description

Description

For maximum recovery please spin prior to use. Unless noted below, aliquots of the 5 μg, 10 μg and 20 μg sizes of kinase are not recommended as materials can be used in original packaging until exhausted. For larger sizes, the number of freeze/thaws may be reduced by preparing aliquots, aliquots below 20 μL are not recommended. Please never store a kinase diluted. If properly stored at -80C, this product is guaranteed for 6 months from date of purchase. ER (Estrogen Receptor) Alpha Recombinant Protein is an insect cell-expressed, full-length, untagged, human nuclear hormone receptor that binds [3H]-estradiol with sub-nM affinity in hydroxylapatite assays and binds specifically to estrogen response element (ERE) sequences. ER alpha full-length recombinant protein is: Flexible-use in your in-house assay or as part of our PolarScreen™ ER Alpha Competitor assays for a complete assay solution Ready to use-active, purified, and native (untagged) Convenient-available in bulk sizes ER Alpha Recombinant Protein is manufactured under the strictest quality parameters. This product is guaranteed for 6 months after purchase. Contact us for bulk quantities or for assistance with other nuclear receptor assay needs, from assay development to library screening and beyond. Used in:PolarScreen™ ER Alpha Competitor Assay, RedPolarScreen™ ER Alpha Competitor Assay, Green Protein Form: Recombinant, Full Length.

Estrogen Receptors (ER) are members of the steroid/thyroid hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors. The estrogen receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor, that when bound to estrogen hormone, induces a conformational change that allows dimerization and binding to estrogen response elements (ERE) in DNA. When bound to EREs, ER can positively or negatively regulate gene transcription through the recruitment of coactivator or corepressor proteins. There are two different forms of the estrogen receptor, alpha and beta, encoded by separate genes (ESR1 and ESR2, respectively). Due to alternative RNA splicing, at least 4 estrogen receptor-alpha isoforms are known to exist (Isoform 1 (66 kDa), Isoform 2 (53 kDa), Isoform 3 (47 kDa), Isoform 4 (35 kDa)). Estrogen receptors are widely expressed in different tissue types and are essential for sexual development and reproductive function. They also play a role in other tissues such as bone. Estrogen receptors are involved in pathological processes including breast cancer, endometrial cancer, and osteoporosis.
