Invitrogen™ Mouse E-Cadherin (CDH1) ELISA Kit
ELISA
Supplier: Invitrogen™ EMCDH1
Description
The Mouse E-Cadherin (CDH1) ELISA quantitates Ms E-Cadherin in mouse serum, plasma, or cell culture medium. The assay will exclusively recognize both natural and recombinant Ms E-Cadherin. Principle of the method The Mouse E-Cadherin solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the amount of the target bound between a matched antibody pair. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are then added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody. The sandwich is formed by the addition of the second (detector) antibody, a substrate solution is added that reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce measurable signal. The intensity of this signal is directly proportional to the concentration of target present in the original specimen. Rigorous validation Each manufactured lot of this ELISA kit is quality tested for criteria such as sensitivity, specificity, precision, and lot-to-lot consistency. See manual for more information on validation.
E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the cadherin (alcium dependent adhesion protein) superfamily. The encoded protein is a calcium dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. Mutations in this gene are correlated with gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid and ovarian cancer. Loss of function is thought to contribute to progression in cancer by increasing proliferation, invasion, and/or metastasis. The ectodomain of this protein mediates bacterial adhesion to mammalian cells and the cytoplasmic domain is required for internalization. Identified transcript variants arise from mutation at consensus splice sites. E-cadherin plays a central role in the growth and development of cells by controlling tissue architecture, and maintenance of tissue integrity. In humans, E-cadherin is encoded by the CDH1 gene present on chromosome 16. Studies have demonstrated that reduction and/or loss of E-cadherin expression in carcinomas correlates positively with the potential of these tumors for invasion and metastasis.Chemical Identifiers
