Description

Description

Description: This MB-1 monoclonal antibody recognizes human CD37. This tetraspanin is expressed on mature B cells, but not on pro-B or plasma cells. CD37 is also weakly expressed on T cells, monocytes, neutrophils, dendritic cells, and macrophages. This cell surface glycoprotein is not detected on NK cells, platelets, or erythrocytes. CD37 is highly expressed on all forms of B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, chronic lymphocyte leukemia, and other leukemias. CD37 reportedly associates with MHC class II, CD19, CD21, and other members of the tetraspanin family. CD37 has been implicated in signal transduction, B cell activation, and T cell proliferation. CD37 has been used as a therapeutic target for treating B cell malignancies. Applications Reported: This MB-1 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis. Applications Tested: This MB-1 antibody has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. This can be used at 5 μL (0.06 μg) per test. A test is defined as the amount (μg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 μL. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test. Excitation: 633-647 nm; Emission: 660 nm; Laser: Red Laser. Filtration: 0.2 μm post-manufacturing filtered.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. Most of these members are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains. The proteins mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. This encoded protein is a cell surface glycoprotein that is known to complex with integrins and other transmembrane 4 superfamily proteins. It may play a role in T-cell-B-cell interactions. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
