Calcium chloride, 1M aq. soln.
CAS: 10043-52-4 | CaCl2 | 110.98 g/mol
Supplier: Thermo Scientific Chemicals J63122AD
Description
Calcium chloride is used as a de-icing and dust control of roads, drilling muds, dust proofing, freeze proofing and thawing coal, coke, stone, sand, and ore, concrete conditioning, paper and pulp industry, drying and desiccating agent, and tire weighting. Calcium plays important roles in many biological processes, including signal transduction, muscle contraction, maintenance of cell membranes and cell wall stability. Calcium chloride is a soluble compound that can serve as a source of calcium ions in a solution. Can be useful for displacing ions from solution, for example, phosphate may be displaced from solution by calcium. Calcium chloride solution has many applications in cell and molecular biology experiments.
This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.

Notes
Moisture sensitive. Store in cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Keep away from strong acids, borane/boron oxides, zinc, calcium oxide, methyl vinyl ether. Calcium chloride is attacked by bromine trifluoride. Anhydrous Calcium Chloride is highly hygroscopic and is often used as a desiccant.
