SOD1 Rabbit anti-Human, Polyclonal, Invitrogen™
Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody
Manufacturer: Invitrogen PA118276
Description
PA1-18276 detects Superoxide Dismutase 1 from human samples. PA1-18276 has been successfully used in immunohistochemistry (paraffin and frozen) and Western blot procedures. The PA1-18276 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues H(121) E K A D D L G K G G N E E S T K T G(139) of human superoxide dismutase (SOD1), conjugated to diphtheria toxin. After reconstitution keep aliquots at -20°C for a higer stability, and at 4°C with an appropriate antibacterial agent. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Reconstitute with 100 µL of distilled water.
SOD1 (superoxide dismutase) binds copper and zinc ions and is one of two isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body. This isozyme is a soluble cytoplasmic protein, acting as a homodimer to convert naturally-occuring but harmful superoxide radicals to molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. The other isozyme is a mitochondrial protein. Mutations in this gene have been implicated as causes of familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Rare transcript variants have been reported for this gene.Specifications
