TrueBlack™ is a new reagent for quenching lipofuscin autofluorescence in tissue sections for immunofluorescence staining from Biotium. Lipofuscin granules accumulate in a variety of tissue types with age. Lipofuscin has bright, broad-spectrum fluorescence, making immunofluorescence imaging of certain tissues virtually impossible.Traditionally, Sudan Black B has been used to quench lipofuscin autofluorescence, but it also introduces high background fluorescence in the red and far-red channels. TrueBlack quenches lipofuscin fluorescence with minimal increase in red/far-red background. TrueBlack™ treatment can be performed before or after immunostaining with minimal effect on signal from fluorescent antibodies or nuclear counterstains. TrueBlack also can reduce autofluorescence from other sources, such as collagen, elastin, red blood cells, and general background fluorescence. TrueBlack™ is supplied as a 20X stock solution in DMF, 1 mL.
