Spectrum™ Chemical Thionyl Chloride, Purified is a moderately volatile colorless liquid with an unpleasant acrid odor. Thionyl chloride is commonly used as a chlorinating reagent in the preparation of organic synthetic intermediates used in the preparation of pharmaceuticals and agrichemical products. The Purified Grade describes chemicals of good quality where there are no official standards and is normally limited to inorganic chemicals.
