Rock Formation Charts

This coordinated series of display charts describes the classification, identification, and formation of the three major rock types. each chart also includes representative specimens of the appropriate rock group. For each of the charts, sets of 15 notebook-sized student reference sheets are also available.

Igneous Rocks Chart
A systematic arrangement of igneous rocks according to texture, composition, and origin. Includes 33 rock specimens.

Metamorphic Rocks Chart
The intricate processes by which a parent rock or mineral is changed (metamorphosed) to a new form are graphically illustrated. Includes 26 rock and mineral specimens.

Sedimentary Rocks Chart
The three main categories of sedimentary rocks (clastic, chemical, and organic) are clearly demonstrated with emphasis on the importance of origin and particle size. Includes 21 rock specimens.
