Invitrogen™ CholEsteryl 4,4-Difluoro-5,7-Dimethyl-4-Bora-3a,4a-Diaza-s-Indacene-3-Dodecanoate (CholEsteryl BODIPY™ FL C12)
Description
Cholesteryl esters consist of a fatty acid esterified to the 3β-hydroxyl group of cholesterol. These very nonpolar species are the predominant lipid components of atherosclerosis plaque and low- and high-density lipoporotein (LDL and HDL) cores. The green fluorescent BODIPY™ FL C12 cholesteryl ester can be used as a tracer of cholesterol transport and receptor-mediated endocytosis of lipoproteins by fluorescence microscopy.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Once reconstituted in either chloroform or alcohol, store frozen, desiccated and protected from light. The CholEsteryl BODIPY FL C12 is not sensitive to changes in temperature (freeze/thaw), but the gradual accumulation of water from condensation and from the atmosphere will promote aggregation of the reagent over time.
The molecular weight of the product is 786.98 g/mol. This is the molecular weight of the full molecule.
CholEsteryl BODIPY FL C12 is soluble up to 1 mM in chloroform. The molecular weight of this product is 786.98 g/mol. Additionally, there are references to the product being soluble up to 25 mM in ethanol and up to 0.5 mg/mL in methanol with sonication.
