- Can be adapted for staining various secretions: urinary, conjunctival, salivary, gastrointestinal, nasal, sinus, aural and bronchial
- Determine elevated levels of eosinophils in urine (eosinophiluria) which can aid in diagnosis of many associated clinical conditions
- Cannot be used for blood staining
