United Scientific™ Eddy Current Demonstrator
Use this Eddy Current Demonstrator, a simple but effective device, to demonstrate Lenz's Law.
Supplier: United Scientific™ EDYCR1
Description
- Uses eddy currents induced in the wall of a copper tube by a falling magnet.
- Consists of 12 in. (30.4 cm) long copper tube and two apparently identical metal slugs (steel and neodymium magnet) with rubber end caps.
- Plain steel slug falls through copper tube quickly but neodymium magnet falls very slowly due to braking effect of eddy currents.
- Includes tube end caps for storing slugs in tube and an activity guide.
