Description
Dihydrogen hexachloroplatinate(IV) is used as a catalyst in the determination of potassium and in the purification of platinum. It is also used in catalysis reactions, electroplating, photography, platinum mirrors, printing for etching of zinc, producing fine color in glass and porcelain, indelible ink and in microscopy. In the presence of copper(II) chloride, it is used to catalyze the photooxygenation of alcohols to aldehydes or ketones. It plays an important role in intramolecular hydrosilylation of an alkyne and hydrosilylation reactions.
