Gibco™ CTS™ KnockOut™ DMEM/F-12

Description
Gibco CTS KnockOut DMEM/F-12 is a serum free, low osmolality medium without L-glutamine or HEPES buffer that is optimized for the growth of human embryonic stem cells (ESC) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). It is designed for use with KnockOut SR and KnockOut SR XenoFree CTS supplements.
Consistent results without fetal bovine serum
Designed for consistent performance, CTS KnockOut DMEM/F-12 is part of the KnockOut line of media products that have delivered reliable results for pluripotent stem cell (ESC and iPSC) culture for years. This fetal bovine free medium leads to little or no spontaneous differentiation.
Equivalent morphology
Stem cells cultured in CTS KnockOut DMEM/F-12 media show normal morphology and karyotype when compared to control stem cells. You can also expect equivalent morphology to manually passaged hESCs, even after enzymatic passaging.
Simplified transition into clinical research
The CTS product line enables you to reduce your burden in qualifying reagents during your transition from research applications to clinical applications. Gibco CTS products are of high quality and are supplied with harmonized documentation such as Certificates of Analysis, Certificates of Origin, and access to authorization letters for our Drug Master Files (DMF).

We do not offer DMEM/F12 medium without folic acid as a standard catalog product. However, our Customs group can make it for you as a custom media. If you are interested, please complete this Custom order inquiry form PDF (https://www.thermofisher.com/content/dam/LifeTech/global/applied-sciences/pdfs/Bioproduction/Gibco-Custom-Media-Buffers-Request-Form.pdf) and email it to custommedia@thermofisher.com. Our Customs group will review your requirements and get back to you within a couple of days with pricing, ordering information, and lead time. After that, you have the choice of proceeding with an official order or declining.
Generally speaking, media can be used for up to three weeks after supplementation with serum. There are no formal studies to support this, but it is the rule of thumb used by our scientists.
We routinely ship media that require long-term storage in the refrigerator at room temperature. We have done studies on representative media formulations to show that media can be at room temperature for up to a week without a problem.
Very often mycoplasma contamination cannot be removed from the culture so it should be discarded. You may have a unique culture that you prefer not to discard and would like to try to clean it. Ciprofloxacin and Plasmocin have reportedly been used for this application. If interested in a protocol or directions for use, check with the antibiotic supplier or published literature. Note that mycoplasma are very difficult to remove from culture and spread easily so the treated cultures should be quarantined until clear of mycoplasma, and your laboratory should be thoroughly cleaned.
For Research Use or Manufacturing of Cell, Gene, or Tissue-Based Products. CAUTION: Not intended for direct administration into humans or animals.
