cis-Bis(2,2'-bipyridine)dichlororuthenium(II) dihydrate is used in the preparation of [Ru(m-) 2,2'-bipyridine)3]2+(PF6-)2. It is also involved in the preparation of an intermediate for the development of nanocomposite junctions with gold nanoparticles.
