It can be used in infrared filters, incandescent mantles and sunscreens in combination with other materials. It finds use as a catalyst support and to sensitize photosensitive glass. It is utilized to increase specific surface area and inhibit sintering as well as pore size growth at a high temperature by addition with CuO/TiO₂.
