Convenient closed systems. BD Vacutainer™ PPT™ Plasma Preparation Tubes are sterile plastic blood collection tubes with a spray-dried anticoagulant and an inert separation gel. They are ideal for the collection, storage, and transport of undiluted plasma for molecular diagnostics testing.

BD Vacutainer™ PPT™ is a closed system allowing for the collection of venous blood, which upon centrifugation separates undiluted plasma. These are used in molecular diagnostic test methods or other procedures where an undiluted plasma specimen is required.
  • When the tube is centrifuged, the separation gel migrates and forms a physical barrier between the plasma and most of the cellular elements
  • Spray-dried K2EDTA anticoagulant (as opposed to a liquid additive) is used so the plasma obtained is undiluted
  • The PPT™ tube can be transported without removal of the plasma, due to the stable, inert separation gel
  • Centrifugation should take place within two hours after blood collection for optimum results
