Aluminum oxide is the catalyst in the Claus process in hydro desulfurization and some Ziegler-Natta polymerizations. It is widely used as an abrasive, in the automotive industries, cosmetic industries and fiber materials.It is a medium for chromatography in some sodium vapor lamps.
