Description

The acceleration trolley rides down a long 30-foot cable with steel spring clamps on the ends.

The angle of an incline has a direct effect on the acceleration due to gravity of a freely moving object. When the ends of the cables are attached to a secure position, this investigates how the acceleration down the cable varies based on the angle of the cable. Vary the mass of the trolley by using bottom holes to attach hanging weights (required but not included). Weights of 100 g up to 250 g yield the best results. An index card can be attached to the top bar and utilized as a photogate to make more accurate time measurements. The overall dimensions of the trolley are 6 x 3.5 x 1 in.
