Description
This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Acros Organics product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Acros Organics product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
General Description
- 4-Epitetracycline hydrochloride is a metabolite derived from the degradation of tetracycline compounds and has been shown to display antibiotic activity
- This compound blocks protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and interfering with the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex
Applications
- This semi-synthesized compound derived from actinomycetes can decrease the activity of the Tet repressor effector in animal models
- In vivo experiments revealed that 4-epitetracycline hydrochloride can induce a toxic response
