HIV1 p24 Recombinant Protein, RP-4917, from Invitrogen.

HIV-1 Gag p24 is a capsid protein that constitutes the core of AIDS virus HIV-1 and is processed by the digestion of its precursor Gag p55 by HIV-1 protease. This protein is indispensable to the reproduction of AIDS virus and constitutes an essential element in the virus particle construction. As this protein is detectable from the early stage of AIDS virus infection, it is used as a marker for observation of the development in the patient’s condition after treatment, as it indicates the amount of virus in the blood.
Host Species: E. Coli
Formulation: 100μg purified protein (1mg/mL) in TBS with 50% glycerol, 0.01M beta mercaptoethanol and no preservative; pH 7.5
RP-4917 can be used as a positive control in Western blotting with ABR antibody anti-HIV-1 p24 (PA1-4951, PA1-4952, or PA1-4953), as well as a p24 antigen in detection of anti-HIV-1 p24 antibody in Western blotting or ELISA. Also, it can be used as standard in the titration of p24 antigens as it indicates the AIDS virus amount in virus infection, diagnosis and treatment progress RP-4917 has a calculated molecular weight of ∽24 kDa. Purity is 90%.
