Description
Silver nitrate finds use in silver plating, photography, manufacturing of other silver compounds, mirrors, coloring porcelain and staining in histology. It is also used as a stain in scanning electron microscopy and a key ingredient in several silver-based pharmaceutical compositions through appropriate manufacturing processes. Silver nitrate can be used to separate mixtures of alkenes by selective absorption. It is also used for deprotection and oxidation reactions in organic synthesis. It is widely used as an analytical reagent owing to its immediate reaction with halide ions forming insoluble precipitate of silver halides.
This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
