Progesterone is a steroid hormone secreted by luteinized theca cells of normal ovary. The determination of progesterone concentrations in the body fluids is of great value for endocrinological investigations in women.

Positive Control: T47D, Luteinized theca cells of normal ovary

Cellular Localization: Cytoplasmic and secreted In competitive binding immunoassay, Ab-1 shows minimal cross-reaction with 17alpha-hydroxyprogesterone (0.8%); 3Beta-hydroxypregn-5-en-20-one (<0.1%); 20alpha-dihydroprogesterone (0.1%); testosterone (<0.1%); 17Beta-estradiol (<0.1%); and cortisol (<0.1%). Ab-1 may also prove useful in identification of ovarian tumors.
