Cellulose Acetate (CA)

  • Excellent chemical resistance to alcohol and oil
  • Excellent for cold sterilization of proteinaceous solutions
  • Able to be used in short-term contact with methyl ethyl ketone
  • Suited for liquid scintillation studies
  • Can be cleared for direct observation using paraffin or almond oil
  • Nonsterile, autoclavable (membrane must be wet when autoclaved)

Celluose Nitrate (CN)

  • Superior recovery of microorganisms
  • Sterility testing, food and beverage testing
  • 0.45μm membrane meets requirements of Standard Methods for water quality work

  • Extremely low levels of extractables—no wetting agent
