Description

Description

Applications
Molybdenum(VI) oxide is a very promising and stable oxide for electrochromic applications and used as a catalyst in the oil industry. It is also used to make metal molybdenum. It has a wide band gap type semiconductor with distinctive electrochromic, thermochromic, and photochromic properties, has been widely investigated as smart materials for catalysis sensors, lubricants, lithium battery, organic solar cells, and display materials.

Solubility
Slightly soluble in water. Soluble in concentrated mineral acids and alkali hydroxide solutions.

Notes
It does not react with acids other than hydrofluoric and concentrated sulfuric acids.
