It is involved in the production of acrylate fiber, which is used to weave synthetic carpets. It plays an important role as a reagent in the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates and alfa ω-dicarboxylic acid esters. It is a good nucleophile and a michael acceptor to prepare polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers.
