L-Noradrenaline serves as an adrenergic neurotransmitter. It acts as demethylated precursor of epinephrine (adrenaline). It is also used to treat people having low blood pressure, as a sympathomimetic drug to treat people in vasodilatory shock states such as septic shock and neurogenic shock. Further, it is used in the preparation of1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4,6,7-isoquinolinetriol hydrochloride. In addition to this, it is used in the treatment of hypotension, depression, schizophrenia and attention hyperactivity disorders.
Soluble in alkali and dilute hydrochloric acid. Slightly soluble in water, ethanol and diethyl ether.
Store in a cool place. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Light sensitive. Incompatible with acids, bases and oxidizing agents.
