It provides water resistance to protein and polyhydroxy compounds by reacting through cross linking. It acts as an intermediate for the production of resins, dyestuffs, pharmaceuticals, photographic films and for stabilization of proteins on agarose beads, activation of polystyrene and glass for immobilization of antibodies and antigens and coupling peptides onto carrier proteins.

Solubility
Miscible with water, acetone, dichloromethane, ethylacetate, isopropanol, n-hexane and toluene.
