Applications
Boric Acid is a commonly used reagent in molecular biology for the preparation of buffers such as Tris Borate EDTA and has applications in capillary and gel electrophoresis. This compound has also been employed in a multitude of applictions, from weatherproofing fabrics to hardening steel. A commonly used molecular biology reagent that exhibits some antifungal activity

Solubility
Soluble in glycerol, ether, alcohol, methanol, liquid ammonia, acetone (slightly), water (6.35 g/100 cc) at 30°C, water (27.6 g/100 cc) at 100°C, water (50 g/L) at 21°C, and water (1 g / 18 ml cold water).
