Applications
Acenaphthene is used in the preparation of naphthalene dicarboxylic anhydride, which is used as a precursor to dyes and optical brighteners. Further, it is used in the preparation of active pharmaceutical ingredients and in plastics.

Solubility
Soluble in chloroform, benzene, tolune, glacial acetic acid and methanol. Insoluble in water.

Notes
Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents and alkaline earth metals.
