Applications1-Butylamine is used as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals, synthetic tanning agents, dyestuffs and emulsifiers. It also plays an important role in the preparation of N,N′-dibutylthiourea, a rubber vulcanization accelerator. It is involved in the preparation of n-butylbenzenesulfonamide, which is a plasticizer of nylon.

Miscible with ethanol and water.
Notes
Air sensitive. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, aluminum, copper, copper alloys and acids.
