Description

These multipotent cells can be induced to differentiate into neurons, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. Neural stem cells are a source of donor tissue for prospective neural cell therapy research given the ability of neurosphere to retain multi-lineage potential and proliferative ability in vitro.

  • Also available from adult rat brain
  • Maintained in an undifferentiated proliferative state by culturing them as free-floating neurospheres in serum-free medium optimized with growth factors
  • NSC are cryopreserved at second passage and can be cultured and propagated for one to two passages prior to induction of phenotypic differentiation
