Corning™ Matrigel Matrix is a soluble basement membrane extracted from Engelbreth-Holm-Swarm mouse tumor which, when reconstituted at room temperature, forms a gel. Available preapplied as cell culture inserts, as invasion chambers, and as cellware. Corning Matrigel Matrix is especially suited for culture of polarized cells, such as epithelial cells. It promotes differentiation of hepatocytes, mammary epithelial cells and smooth muscle cells. It also promotes capillary tubule formation of endothelial cells and neurite regeneration, and can be used for angiogenesis assays.


  • Two matrix configurations—chambers with Corning Matrigel Matrix and with Growth Factor Reduced (GFR) Matrigel Matrix
  • Allow invasion of HT-1080 cells (invasive human fibrosarcoma cells) through 8μm pores and exclude invasion of 3T3 cells (noninvasive mouse fibroblast cells line)
